Terms & conditions

Using MapAPlace.

The terms that apply when you access or use MapAPlace.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

1. About these terms

These terms form an agreement between you and Creative Shed Agency Ltd, the operator of MapAPlace. They apply to the website, accounts, editor, published maps, APIs, free features and paid services.

By registering for or using MapAPlace, you accept these terms. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

2. Accounts and security

You must be at least 18, provide accurate information and keep passwords, API secrets, integration credentials and recovery methods secure. You are responsible for activity authorised through your account or credentials.

Tell us promptly at hello@mapaplace.com if you believe an account or credential has been compromised.

3. Using the service

Subject to these terms and plan limits, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use MapAPlace. This is a right to use the hosted service, not a transfer of its software or intellectual property.

Free and preview features may change or be withdrawn. Paid features are available only while the relevant subscription or entitlement remains active.

4. Subscriptions, cancellation and refunds

Paid subscriptions renew at the interval shown at checkout until cancelled. Stripe processes payments and its terms also apply. Cancellation stops future renewal but normally does not refund a period already paid for.

Mandatory consumer cancellation, refund and service-quality rights are not affected. Where required by law, checkout will explain any right to cancel and the effect of requesting immediate supply.

5. Your content and published maps

You retain ownership of maps, markers, categories, text, images, links and other material you submit. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, cache, transmit and display that content to operate the service and follow your publishing instructions.

You must have the rights and lawful bases needed for your content. Do not submit special-category, confidential, security-sensitive, medical or financial information.

A public map may be copied, cached or redistributed. Password protection is an access control only and must not be treated as a confidential data store.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the service unlawfully, deceptively, to harm anyone, or to publish content that infringes another person's rights.
  • Do not upload malware, probe security, bypass access controls or plan limits, or make disruptive automated requests.
  • Do not resell access, remove legal or attribution notices, or misrepresent a map as authoritative.
  • Do not use MapAPlace for emergency response, critical infrastructure, life-support or another purpose where an error could cause serious harm.

7. Mapping and third-party services

MapAPlace relies on third parties such as payment, hosting, email, map-style and tile providers. Their services, terms and availability are separate from ours.

Maps, coordinates, boundaries, place information and building information may be incomplete, approximate, delayed or wrong. Verify important information with an authoritative source and do not treat MapAPlace as an official land record, survey, engineering drawing or safety system.

8. API connections

When you connect a website or API client, you authorise it to perform actions allowed by its credentials and your administrative permissions. You are responsible for its configuration, users and security.

We may rotate, revoke, throttle or suspend credentials where needed to protect the service or an account. Undocumented interfaces are not guaranteed to remain available.

9. Availability and termination

The service is provided as available. Outages and data loss can occur, so keep independent copies of important source material. No service level applies unless an order expressly provides one.

We may suspend access for security, legal, non-payment, misuse or urgent technical reasons. You may stop using the service at any time; account deletion is subject to the confirmation and retention process shown in the account area.

10. Warranties and liability

Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and fraud. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Subject to those rights, the service is supplied without voluntary guarantees of uninterrupted operation, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or permanent feature availability. For business users, we exclude indirect and consequential losses to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Law, changes and contact

We may update these terms for legal, security, technical or commercial reasons and will give notice required by law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales; consumers retain any mandatory protections and court rights available where they live.
